I’ve half written and scrapped a handful of different ideas to write about to close out the year. From an exploration of the brotherhood and trust of members of the Fraternity to an essay on integrity and why it’s the most important trait of a person.
None of these ideas really felt like a proper closing of the year to me; perhaps I’ll explore them in the future.
After thinking about it longer I found I really wanted to do was to thank everyone. Well not everyone, but a whole lot of people who made my year as Worshipful Master a great one.
My entire group of Officers stepped up their game and excelled at their roles. I couldn’t have asked for a better group and I’m looking forward to seeing them excel as they continue their journey towards the East. They are a tremendous group of guys, and I’m proud to call them Brothers.
I also want to thank my family and friends for being very supportive of my participation in Freemasonry. My Wife has made many comments about how it’s been very good for me as a person, and my kids love hearing the odd tidbits and facts I learn about. I’m a better Father and Husband, and they see and appreciate that.
And last but definitely not least, the vast group of people I’ve met and befriended thanks for Freemasonry. From local Brothers of different Lodges, to a pilot who flies in for Fall Festival, to members at Lodges where I’ve had trips to. It’s always a wonderful thing to be able to chat with a Brother and hear their story.
That all said, I can’t wait to see what the years ahead bring and I look forward to more growth, and more Light.
